Our fall sessions is so quickly coming to an end at IHD. We’ve had so much fun dancing, learning and growing with each other as teachers and with all our dancers. It has been a pleasure to get to know new students and their families and continue to build relationships with returning students. We can’t wait to show you want we’ve been working at our Holiday Concert and Competitive Gala in March.

So you’ve had fun at session one but haven’t decided if you’ll be joining us for session 2. Here’s what you’ll be getting if you join us for Winter Session:

More time

Our Winter session is almost double the length of our Fall session. We have more time together to develop what we’ve learned in over the past few months and continue to build habits for a healthy and active lifestyle.

More skills

With more time comes more skill. Over the past few months we’ve been working on the basics, getting our students on a similar level and learning the way dance class works. Now that we have that under our belts we’ll be working on developing and variation on these skills and processes and learning new skills that will help develop cognitive pathways, co-ordination and challenge your dancers bodies and minds.

More comfort

Now your dancer knows their teacher, knows the dancers in their class, knows the studio. Now your family know’s some of our staff and how the studio works a little better. With this comfort comes new relationships with peers, parents and instructors. Being more comfortable with the studio and their class will allow your dancer to take more initiative in class, take more risks, develop more skills and techniques, building self esteem and confidence.

Bigger Performance

We’re so excited for our Holiday Performance and love seeing anytime our dancers get a chance to perform but our year end recital is without a doubt the grand finale of our year! Recital brings the whole studio together to perform and connect. Dancers get to see their assistants and more mature dancers perform. We celebrate students who are celebrating 5 and 10 year anniversaries and those who are graduating high school after years of dancing with us. Not to mention the amazing and adorable costumes the dancers get to wear. Its an amazing show we work toward all year and an experience we only get to share with dancers in session 2.

We hope that you’ll consider joining us for session 2 at IHD. Whether you were with us this session or are just joining us for the winter we are so excited to learn more, grow more and dance more with you!

In recent years we started the tradition of celebrating students who have dedicated a part of their life and part of their dance journey to In Harmony Dance for a number of years. As dance educators we have the distinct honour of watching dancers grow with us year after year. Being a part of and celebrating  their accomplishments in and out of the studio is the best part of our jobs and the relationship we build with these students often last long beyond the end of their time at the studio.

Throughout the next couple of months we will be doing some student profiles on these amazing students so you get to know them a little better and they will receive recognition at our competitive gala and year end recital.

Thank you to these students who have chosen to stick with dance, stick with the studio and stick with your training. The skills you have gained go beyond the studio and will enrich your life in ways you may not even realize. You have enriched and changed our lives by being a part of our studio culture. Thank you to the parents and support systems of these dancers who have trusted us with their children and allowed us to be a part of their lives. Thank you for all the drives you’ve given, recitals you’ve watched and for supporting not only your dancer but the studio. We so appreciate everything you do.

Congratulations and thank you to the following students:

Celebrating their 5th Anniversary at IHD: Carys H, Lia C, Isabella P, Lily S, Julianne C, Alex M, Katie M, Emmaleigh S, Taylor N, Taylor K, Lindsay O, Lauren O, Mikayla P, Avani D, Madeleine M, and Isabelle E

Celebrating their 10th Anniversary at IHD: Jenna C, Tori B, Evelyn S, Catherine S, Natasha H, and Elise Howson

This amazing group of students has touched our lives as teachers and continue to enrich our studio and the lives of the students they assist and teach as they share their passion and dedication to dance and our dance family each day. They continually take time out of their busy schedule and have donated countless hours to their training, our studio and the student’s they love. They continue to impress us with their professionalism, their talent and their pure passion for dance.

Our Assistant Teacher Program has allowed us to mentor and get to know the strengths and talent of these young women no matter how long they have trained with us and we hope has allowed them to become confident and able young dance instructors.

You’ll see Kiana, Tayler, Sarah, Nikki, Lauren, Jewell , Jaime, Jenna, Jasmine, Catherine and Erin around the studio as dancers, helping around studio events, facilitating birthday parties and in the studio teaching and assisting class for your dancers. We hope you get to know and love them as much as we do. We have watched each one of them work so hard to become the best assistants and dancers they can be and we are so proud to be a part of their journey.

We are slowly updating our website at www.inharmonydance.ca/pages/faculty as well as our faculty boards with our updated bios so you can learn even more about these young ladies. We are in the process of training some new eager students who will become the next generation of assistants and teachers at IHD.
